Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In absence of any sediment test, the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM) can be applied as a first screen “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance”, Section 7.8.14 Integrated Testing Strategy for toxicity to sediment (ECHA, 2017). EPM cannot be used for all surface active substances. Nevertheless, since the substances of the Alcohol Ethoxylates (AE) category are non-ionic surfactants their environmental toxicity and binding properties are driven by lipophilicity. Therefore, EPM is a suitable method and was employed to screen the sediment toxicity of the substances of the AE category substances. All PEC/PNEC ratios for the sediment compartment were <1 indicating no risk for the sediment compartment. Based on the screening assessment further tests with sediment organisms were omitted.
