Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Type of information:
(Q)SAR
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other:
Remarks:
Result derived from a (Q)SAR model with no adequate performance in internal validation. The main constituents of the substance, representing ca. 95% (w/w) of the composition, are compliant with the applicability domain of the model, and for the remaining minor ones an extrapolation is used. The reliability and adequacy of the result is supported by good predictions obtained for similar substances from the model training set. Thus the target prediction is in line with experimental data of the most similar substances and therefore the prediction is considered valid.

Additional information

The assessment of the chronic toxicity of Alcohols, C12-14, ethoxylated to aquatic invertebrates is based on QSAR data derived from an AE substance specific QSAR model.QSAR models for alcohol ethoxylates were developed based on literature data (Wind & Belanger, 2006; Boeije et al., 2006; Belanger et al, 2006) and experimental results obtained for representative source substances. The descriptors used for the linear regression modeling are the number of carbon atoms in the main alkyl chain n (linear or branched) and the degree of ethoxylation m. Since the target substance is UVCB, a toxic unit approach is applied: the toxicity of a composition is calculated as a weighted average of the results obtained for single C(n)EO(m) units.

For the assessment of chronic toxicity of the target substance to aquatic invertebrates, an 21-d EC10 of 0.054 mg/L based on reproduction was predictedby an AE specificC/EO QSAR mass based toxic unit additivity model.
