Criterion

Outcome

Criterion fulfilled

Seedling emergence in the controls is ≥ 70%.

Triticum aestivum: 85%

Brassica alba: 80%

epidum sativum: 95%

yes

No visible phytotoxic effects (e.g. chlorosis, necrosis, wilting, deformatons) in control seedlings and the plants of every particular species exhibit normal variation in growth and morphology.

Not observed

yes

The environmental conditions for a particular species are identical and the growing media contain the same amount of soil matrix, support media or substrate from the same source.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
Please refer to table 2 at "Any other information on results incl. tables"
Conclusions:
No effects were observed for seedling emergence and growth of the three test species at the test item concentration of 100 mg/kg soil dw.
Executive summary:

The toxicity of Alcohols C12-14, ethoxylated towards terrestrial plants was assessed iaccording to OECD 208 study The plants (B.alba, L. sativum, and T. aestivum) were exposed to the limit test concentration of 100 mg/kg test substance for 19 days.

No toxicity and no effects on growth were observed.

Description of key information

NOEC (19d) 100 mg/kg soil dw. for seedling emergence and growth of Lepidum sativum, Brassica alba and Triticum aestivum

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A study on the toxicity to terrestrial plants was carried out as limit test in accordance to OECD guideline 208 and GLP (Sasol, 1994). No effects were observed for seedling emergence and growth of the three test species at the test item concentration of 100 mg/kg soil dw.
