Based on these results, the column elution method was considered suitable for the determination of the water solubility of the test item.

Main test results

The concentrations of the test item in different test solutions were calculated automatically using the equation of the calibration curve. The results are shown in the following table (pH = 6.2):

According to the guideline, at least 5 successive fractions should not deviate by more than 30% to demonstrate a concentration plateau. This is achieved by the fractions 1 -8 in the 25.0 mL/h run and 4 -8 in the 12.5 mL/h run. There are variations for the determined values (0.6 to 2.5 mg/L) depending on the marker signal and the flow rate of the pump. Since the test item is a composition of constituents with different solubilities, these variations are acceptable and the overall water solubility of the test item is given as the mean value of 1.3 mg/L.

Description of key information

1.3 mg/L at 20 °C, pH = 6.2

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1.3 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of the substance was determined in accordance to the guideline OECD 105 (column elution method). In an earlier experiment, according to ASTM E 1148 -02 (flask method), the values of 35 -63 mg/L and 7 -45 mg/L at 25 °C, pH 6 -7, were reported for loadings of 100 and 1000 mg/L, respectively. They are in principle supporting, being higher at a higher temperature.
