Description of key information

The melting point of Phosphoric Acid was determined in accordance with test guideline EC A.1 to be 41.1 °C, following the Differential Scanning Calorimetry method (Holzschuh, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
41.1 °C

Additional information

Although six supporting data indicate a melting point at 42.3 - 42.4°C, most of the values can be considered identical and thus it is questionable whether or not they result from independent sources. Furthermore, most sources do not describe the physical state of the test item. Therefore the value from the recent melting point study is used for the CSA.
