Administrative data
First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures:
Take care of your own personal safety.
Bring affected persons out of danger area.
Remove contaminated or saturated clothing immediately and dispose off safely.
Keep warm, position comfortably, and cover well.
Do not leave the victim unattended.
Inhalation:
Inhalation is possible if aerosols, mists, dusts, or smoke form.
After inhalation move subject to fresh air.
With labored breathing: Provide with oxygen.
Consult a doctor.
If the casualty is not breathing: Perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, notify emergency physician immediately.
Skin contact:
Use of special rinsing solutions with high buffer capacities (e.g. borate buffer solutions, diphoterines, etc.) is recommended within the framework of first aid measures.
or
Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Clean with water/ soap until completely decontaminated.
See a doctor if the symptoms persist.
Eye contact:
Use of special rinsing solutions with high buffer capacities (e.g. borate buffer solutions, diphoterines, etc.) is recommended within the framework of first aid measures.
or
With eye held open, thoroughly rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes.
Notify emergency physician immediately (key words: burns in eye).
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting.
Rinse out mouth.
Have patient drink plenty of water in small sips.
Consult a physician immediately.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
No specific antidote known.
Inhalation:
Depending on the specific symptoms and clinical picture, close monitoring of findings, oxygen administration and diagnostic results (e.g. lung x-rays) is required.
The efficacy of systemic or inhalative treatment with glucocorticoids for prophylaxis of pulmonary oedema has not yet been confirmed in controlled clinical trials.
We recommend the following medical treatment procedure (therapy ex juvantibus) for prophylaxis of pulmonary oedema: Systemic administration of 1,000 mg methylprednisolone (or equivalent steroid dose) for treatment of exisisting pulmonary symptoms plus inhalative administration of a glucocorticoid inhaler-dosed aerosol (with spacer if possible) with initial administration of 8 inhaler strokes followed by 2 inhaler strokes once every 10 minutes.
Ingestion:
Therapy urgent following ingestion of caustic substances!
The initial measure and objective of treatment is to quickly dilute the caustic noxious substance on-site to avoid/ limit the caustic effect.
There is a danger of perforation of the mucous membranes.
All further therapeutic and diagnostic measures (e.g. early endoscopy, irrigation of the stomach) must be considered taking the danger of a perforation of the mucous membranes into account.
Depending on the pathology and clinical findings, patient monitoring and symptomatic treatment are necessary.
Aspiration hazard!
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Mist, quenching powder, foam.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:
High volume water jet.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
In specific combustion conditions traces of the following poisonous substances cannot be ruled out:
Cyanogen chloride, hydrocyanic acid, hydrogen chloride.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:
Wear a self contained respiratory apparatus.
Full protective suit.
Advice for firefighters:
Water used to extinguish fire should not enter drainage systems, soil or stretches of water.
Contaminated fire-extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with the regulations issued by the appropriate local authorities.
In case of fire, remove the endangered containers and bring to a safe place, if this can be done safely.
Fire residues should be disposed of in accordance with the regulations.
Ensure there are sufficient retaining facilities for water used to extinguish fire.
Keep out unprotected persons.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
Do not inhale dust and / or aerosols.
Keep unauthorized persons away.
Environmental precautions:
Do not allow entrance in soil, stretches of water, drainage systems, groundwater.
If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
To absorb spilled substance an approved industrial vacuum cleaner is recommended.
If necessary, the spilled substance should be moistened.
Dispose of contaminated material as a waste in a correct manner.
Pick up mechanically.
Collect in suitable containers.
Pack and label wastes like the pure substance.
Do not detach label from the delivery containers prior to disposal.
Disposal according to local authority regulations.
Rinse away any residue with plenty of water.

Observe regulations on prevention of water pollution (check, dam up, cover up).

In order to ensure due transportation, make certain that stacks are of the correct height, containers are securely fastened so as not to fall off, and labelled according to the regulations.

If there is the possibility of skin/eye contact, the indicated hand/eye/body protection should be used.

Shows a strong explosive and exothermic reaction with N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO) in solid phase (anhydrous).
