not specified
Subjects:
- one test engineer, non-smoker, 47 years, only occasionally patrolling the production plant for 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine
- no memorable direct exposure with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine
Clinical history:
- allergic exanthem against Aspirin
- after a infection with fever a dry cough remained
Controls:
not applicable
Route of administration:
inhalation
Details on study design:
- auscultation
- lung function test
- bronchoscopy
- acetylcholine provocation test
- RAST (radioallergosorbent test) for 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine

Results and discussion

Results of examinations:
- auscultation: normal
- lung function test: normal but slightly raised residual volume
- bronchoscopy: one site of inflammatory swelling
- acetylcholine provocation test: no resistance increase but strong urge to cough
- RAST (radioallergosorbent test) for 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine: positive

- complete decay of the dry cough after shifting the person to a different production plant

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In the present case study a non smoking 47 year old engineer with a dry cough, working occasionally at a 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine production plant, was tested positive for specific IgE against 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine. Dislocation the person from the 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine production plant led to complete decay of the dry cough.
