Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Temp.:
40°C
Parameter:
dynamic viscosity (in mPa s)
Value:

Temp.:
20°C
Parameter:
other: m2/s
Value:

Remarks on result:
other: The correct value of the kinematic viscosity at 20°C is 1.28 exp.-05 m2/s.

The kinematic viscosity at 40°C is 6.8 exp.-06 m2/s. An entry of this value was not possible (max. 5 decimal places are allowed and "exp. writing" is not possible.

Conclusions:
The determination of the dynamic viscosity was performed according to DIN 53019 (German industry norm) and OECD 114 using a rotary viscosimeter at 20°C and 40°C. The kinematic viscosity was calculated with the dynamic viscosity and the density at test temperature. The following results were obtained:
Dynamic viscosity at 20 °C: 1.63 E-02 Pa · s
Dynamic viscosity at 40 °C: 8.6 E-03 Pa · s
Kinematic viscosity at 20 °C: 1.28 E-05 m2/s
Kinematic viscosity at 40 °C: 6.8 E-06 m2/s
Executive summary:

The determination of the dynamic viscosity was performed according to DIN 53019 (German industry norm) and OECD 114 using a rotary viscosimeter at 20°C and 40°C. The kinematic viscosity was calculated with the dynamic viscosity and the density at test temperature. The following results were obtained for the 50.4% aqueous solution of2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid:

Dynamic viscosity at 20 °C: 1.63 E-02 Pa · s

Dynamic viscosity at 40 °C: 8.6 E-03 Pa · s

Kinematic viscosity at 20 °C: 1.28 E-05 m2/s

Kinematic viscosity at 40 °C: 6.8 E-06 m2/s

Endpoint:
viscosity
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Justification for type of information:
Since the registered substance is solid, viscosity is not relevant. The actually manufactured substance is a 50% aqueous solution. The viscosity of the aqueous solution is reported in the key study.

Description of key information

For the solid material no viscosity was determined. As the substance is available only as ca 50% aqueous solution, the dynamic viscosity for the solution is given.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
0.016 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C
