HBr is corrosive at relatively low airborne concentrations and forms hydrobromic acid in water dissociating to hydrogen and bromide ions. In consequence, oral and dermal DNELs for HBr exposure cannot be derived. HBr levels should not breach the IOELV value (2000/39/EC) for a 15-minute inhalation exposure.

HBr dissocates to hydrogen and bromide ions in contact with moisture and in use. Hence there will be no exposure of hydrogen bromide to the general public.
