Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration. Give oxygen, keep patient calm and warm and seek medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Wash with plenty of water.
EYE CONTACT: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, avoiding contamination of the unaffected eye.
INGESTION: Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Keep patient calm and seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Suitable - Appropriate for surrounding fire
Not suitable - None
COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: May give off harmful fumes of ammonia, nitrogen and carbon oxides
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Use water spray to cool containers. Wear full protective clothing and breathing apparatus
Accidental release measures
Observe any warning labels on the container. Take precautions to avoid creating and breathing fumes.
Contain any spilled material immediately with dry agent (e.g. sand, earth etc.) and vacuum or shovel into labelled containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
HANDLING PRECAUTION: Handle/weigh this product under conditions of local exhaust ventilation to avoid inhaling fumes and to avoid creating aerosol mists or spray.
STORAGE CONDITIONS Store away from heat and replace lid after use.

Exposure controls / personal protection
RESPIRATORY: Personal exposure must be controlled to conform with local regulations. Use suitable personal respiratory protection as needed.
HAND: Wear gloves.
EYE: Wear eye/face shield
SKIN: As appropriate for local operating procedures.
Workplace Exposure Levels 8h-TWA(mg/m^3) Short-term(mg/m^3) Reference
Zirconium compounds (as Zr) 5 10 (15min) UK, US-ACGIH
5 - Denmark, Finland, Norway
Soluble zirconium compounds Data not adequate to allocate Germany
Ammonia 18 25 (15min) UK, US-ACGIH
18 30 (15min) Finland,
18 - Denmark, Norway, Sweden
14 28 (4min) Germany
Stability and reactivity
STABLE (Y/N): Yes
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Heat (Liberates ammonia)
MATERIALS TO AVOID: Mixing with strong acids will liberate carbon dioxide. Will corrode metallic copper and brass
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Ammonia, nitrogen and carbon oxides may be liberated on heating
Disposal considerations
Users should acquaint themselves with local regulations. Waste is not considered to be hazardous waste. European Waste Catalogue Index No. 06 03 99. Disposal is usually carried out by treatment under controlled conditions at a licensed waste material processor.
