Description of key information

The key study for this endpoint (Priestly & Mullee, 2010) was conducted under GLP conditions and to the OECD guideline 202. The Study reported a 48 hour EC50 of >100% saturated solution for mobility of Daphnia magna, conducted as a limit test at 100% saturated solution.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Information provided by the Sponsor indicated that at the pH and concentration used in this study the test item was likely to have become unstable. It is considered likely that the addition of the test item to water resulted in the rapid decomposition of the substance to form zirconium hydroxide, together with accompanying release of carbonate and ammonium ions to the solution.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50/LC50 for freshwater invertebrates: >100% saturated solution

The key study was given a reliability score of 1 based upon the criteria of Klimisch et al, 1997, and the level of detail contained in the study report.
