Additional information

The substance decomposes rapidly on contact with moisture or water. In a study on hydrolysis performed according to the OECD guideline 111, a half-life of < 2 min was determined at pH 4, 7 and 9 at ambient temperature. Identified hydrolysis products were chloride, sulphite and sulphate. They will ionise in aqueous environments to form environmentally ubiquitous ionic species..

Additionally hydrolysis of the substance was investigated in the gas phase and depending on humidity half-lives of 1.4 minutes (74% relative humidity) to 5.9 minutes (28% relative humidity) were obtained.

Tests on biodegradation and bioaccumulation are technically not feasible as the substance reacts fast with water and the reaction products are inorganic.
