First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures- General information: Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product.- After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints.- After skin contact: Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.- After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.- After swallowing: Call for a doctor immediately.Information for doctor:- Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed- Eyes: Dust may irritate eyes mechanically.- Hazards and systemic effects: No specific hazards known.- Possible routes of intake: Intake by swallowing or inhalation of dust.- Chronic effects: No chronic effects known.- Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Symptomatic treatment. No specific antidot.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media- Suitable extinguishing agents: CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam.Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Formation of explosive dust/air-mixtures is possible. In case of fire, the following can be released: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide (CO)Advice for firefighters- Protective equipment: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Chemical resistant protective suit. Under the protective suit a fire protective suit according to EN 469 should be applied.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Avoid formation of dust. Wear protective clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation. Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol. Do not breathe dust. Avoid spillage of product into the environment. Access only for trained personnel with personal protective equipment.- Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Pick up mechanically. If formation of dust cannot be avoided use respiratory filter device. Send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles. Possible formation of explosive dust/air mixtures.- Reference to other sections: Do not fill back spilled material into original containers. Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local Authority approval.

Handling and storage

Handling- Precautions for safe handling: Work only in fume cupboard. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Provide suction extractors if dust is formed. Material is hygroscopic and tends to polymerize in aqueous solution. Because of the low minimum ignition energy of <3 mJoule airborne dust may easily ignite or explode. In places where potential sources of ignition can be expected, additional measures as e-g- inertisation or adaption of equipment are necessary. Keep containers tightly sealed. Empty containers must not be used for other products. Contaminated protective equipment should be cleaned before taking it off. Fill only in dedicated and assigned containers.- Information about fire - and explosion protection: Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture. Very high danger of dust explosions.Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities- Storage- Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store in a dry location, keep away from humidity.- Corrosion of metals: No corroding action on metals (expert statement).- Information about storage in one common storage facility: Do not store together with organic solvents. Do not store together with peroxides. Store away from oxidizing agents. Store away from water.- Further information about storage conditions: Aqueous solutions of DAA tend to polymerize in absence of oxygen. Do not blanket solutions with nitrogen. Protect from humidity and water. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.- Maximum storage temperature: No data available.- Recommended storage temperature: Currently no data available. It is therefore recommended not to exceed room temperature (max- 25°C) during storage over a longer period of time.- Acceptable storage time: No data available.Specific end use(s): See Application of this substance/preparation.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional information about design of technical facilities: Handling of material under inert gas and protected from humidity. Take care of sufficient ventilation. Avoid formation of dust. Handle this material under exclusion of humidity. Control parameters- Ingredients with limit values that require monitoring at the workplace: Not required.- DNEL/PNEC-values: See section 7..- AEGL: Not listed.- IDLH: Not listed- ERPG: Not listed. TEEL: Not listed.- Additional information: The lists valid during the making were used as basis.Exposure controls:- Personal protective equipment- General protective and hygienic measures: Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Contaminated protective suit shall be cleaned before taking it off.- Respiratory protection: Particle filter. The filter grade (P1 - P3) has to be established depending on work-place related limit values and the actual exposition.- Protection of hands: Protective gloves. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.- For the permanent contact gloves made of the following materials are suitable: The following materials are known from experience to be suitable for protection against undissolved solids: rubber. Check for tightness before use. Replace damaged gloves.- Eye protection: Safety glasses- Body protection: Use dust-proof protective suit.- Protection against thermal hazards: No specific measures required.- Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment: Avoid spillage of product into the environment. If possible use this material only in closed systems and devices. In case of open plant systems (sampling devices, filling and discharging, cleansing works etc.) use local exhaust and collecting trays. Follow emission limit values. Measures in case of unwanted emissions should be established.- Risk management measures: General protective and hygienic measures have to be observed. Handling and use of this material/formulation only under controlled conditions in closed systems. Employees who us e this material/formulation must be trained and demonstrably instructed about possible risks for man and environment. Measures for prevention of hazards in case of unwanted leakage (LOPC) shall be implemented.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity- Chemical stability- Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: This substance is hygroscopic and tends to polymerize in aqueous solution. High risk of dust explosion.- Sensitive to: - Air: Risk of dust explosions.- Water: hygroscopic. Sensitive to humidity.- Temperature: Protect from heat.- Possibility of hazardous reactions: Exothermic polymerization. Aqueous solutions tend to polymerize. Very high danger of dust explosions. Conditions to avoid: No further relevant information available.Incompatible materials: Water. Acids and bases. Strong oxidizing agents. HumidityHazardous decomposition products: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxide

Disposal considerations

- Precautionary measures: See chapter Handling and Storage before handling this product or its containers.- Waste treatment methods- Recommendation: Must not be disposed together with household garbage- Do not allow product to reach sewage system. Must be specially treated adhering to official regulations. If possible recovery or recycling.- European waste catalogue: 07 07 99 wastes not otherwise specified- Uncleaned packaging:- Recommendation: Empty contaminated packagings thoroughly. They may be recycled after thorough and proper cleaning. Packagings that may not be cleansed are to be disposed of in the same manner as the product. - Recommended cleansing agents: Water, if necessary together with cleansing agents.- Appropriate disposal: Empty containers completely. Storage in a safe place after emptying.- Biological waste water treatment: Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local Authority approval.
