Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII "The study does not need to be conducted if: — the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, for example on the basis of the chemical structure (e.g. organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen, or inorganic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms)".
Diacetone acrylamide contains oxygen atoms but these are bonded only to carbon. Diacetone acrylamide is therefore not considered to have oxidising properties.
According to CLP-criterion: "For organic substances or mixtures the classification procedure for this class shall not apply if: ... (b) the substance or mixture contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen." Diacetone acrylamide is therefore not considered to have oxidising properties.
Also according to the long term experience within DSM in handling of DAA it is concluded, that this substance is not an oxidising solid.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Diacetone acrylamide is not considered to have oxidising properties and therefore no need for classification according to oxidising properties is required.
