Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Distribution modelling

Administrative data

Endpoint:
distribution modelling
Type of information:
(Q)SAR
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
results derived from a valid (Q)SAR model and falling into its applicability domain, with limited documentation / justification
Remarks:
The results for key components of Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated (Technical Grade) are classified as Klimisch Code 2 (reliable with restrictions) as they are generated from a recognised model (US EPA EpiWin version 3.12). This data is not required under REACH, but is included as additional information. As the model used to generate this prediction has been superseeded by EpiWin v4.00, a QPRF is not included.
Justification for type of information:
QSAR prediction: migrated from IUCLID 5.6

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Based on the estimations as a whole, the major components of Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated (Technical Grade), namely cardanol and cardol will distribute mainly to soils (37.3-77.7%) if released to the air compartment, almost exclusively to sediment (94.8-97.3%) of released to water, exclusively to soil if released to soil and mainly to sediment (66.9-69.9%) if released simultaneously to all air, soil and water compartments.
