The biodegradation assessment was based on an OECD TG 310 Sealed-Vessel CO2 Evolution Test (Headspace Test), with and without enhanced exposure measures. Although not readily biodegradable, the profile of biodegradation for the test substance when enhanced with Tween surfactant on a GF/C paper support was similar to that for the test substance without enhancement measures. However, the extent of degradation was increased by about 14% (to 69.3%) and exceeded the 60% threshold. Using the surface area enhancement measures as described, CNSL Technical Grade is considered to be ultimately biodegradable. However, it should be noted that as the test substance is a mixture, different rates of degradation may occur under realistic conditions.
