First-aid measures
Inhalation : Not specifically applicable.
Move the person away from the contaminated area. Make the affected person rest. If necessary seek medical advice.
Skin contact : Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash with soap and water. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes).
In case of inflammation (redness, irritation, ...) obtain medical attention. Show this sheet to the doctor.
Eye contact : Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period, (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open. If irritation persists, consult a doctor. Show this sheet to the doctor.
Ingestion : NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. If necessary seek medical advice. Show this sheet to the doctor.
Protection of first-aiders : Wear protective gloves when administering first aid.
- protective clothing.
- goggles.
Further information :
Use first aid techniques to restore vital functions. Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
- Suitable : All extinguishing agents can be used (water, foam, powders, carbon dioxide, sand ...).
- Not suitable : None to our knowledge. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.
Specific hazards : During combustion: Highly irritating vapours are released.
Specific fire fighting methods : Evacuate the personnel away from the fumes. Do not breathe fumes.
Cool down the containers/equipment exposed to heat with a water spray.
Do NOT attempt to fight the fire without suitable protective equipment.
Protection of fire-fighters : Complete protective clothing.
Self-contained breathing apparatus.
For further information refer to section "Exposure controls/personal protection".
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions :
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Do not breathe fumes.
Prevent the product from spreading into the environment.
Do NOT attempt to take action WITHOUT suitable protective equipment.
Personal protective equipment:
- suitable protective clothing.
- safety glasses.
- PVC gloves.
For further information refer to section "Exposure-controls/personal protection".
Stop the leak, and if possible, avoid any contact with skin and clothing.
Remove all incompatible materials as quickly as possible:
- oxidizing materials.
Environmental precautions
: For a large spillage, contain the spillage by bunding. For further information, refer to section "Disposal considerations".
Methods for cleaning up
- Recovery : Large amounts:Pump up the product into a spare container :
- suitably labelled.Keep the recovered product for subsequent disposal.
Small amounts:
Absorb with sand. Collect up the spilled product and place it in a spare container:
- suitably labelled. Keep the recovered product for subsequent disposal.
- Cleaning/Decontamination : Wash non-recoverable remainder with large amounts of water.
Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
- Disposal :
Place in an appropriate container and dispose of the contaminated material at a licensed site.
Handling and storage
Technical measures : Ventilation.
Measures : Avoid contact with hot surfaces.
Avoid the formation of mists in the atmosphere.
Work in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid any direct contact with the product.
Do NOT handle without gloves.
Do NOT handle if hands have any cuts or wounds.
Do not pipette liquids using a mouth pipette.
Safe handling advice :
Do NOT heat up.
Do not mix with incompatible materials.
STORAGE
Technical measures :
The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.
Storage conditions
- Recommended :
Store:
- in a cool, dry area
- away from incompatible materials.
- in a well-ventilated area
Incompatible products : Oxidizing agents and oxidizing materials.
Packaging : Product must only be kept in the original packaging.
Packaging materials
- Recommended: Original packaging.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering measures :
Extraction to remove vapours at their source.
Ensure good ventilation of the work station.
Avoid splashes (appropriate clothing, protective screens on machines etc.)
Control parameters
Exposure limit values (Human Health)
- Occupational exposure limit values (France): Cresols (Phenol, methyl-) VME: 22 mg/m3 (5 ppm)
- ACGIH Threshold Limit Values (U.S.A./A.C.G.I.H.) Cresols (Phenol, methyl-) TLV ( TWA ) : 5 ppm:
Surveillance procedures :
Monitoring of the atmosphere in the work place. The recommended limits SHOULD NOT be exceeded.
Personal protective equipment
- Respiratory protection :
If the ventilation is suitable, it is not essential to wear respiratory equipment.
If mist is formed: Respiratory protective device with a particle filter.
- Hand protection :
Use suitable chemical-resistant protective gloves (compliant with Standard EN 374-1). Protective gloves must be chosen according to the function of the work station: other chemicals which may be handled, physical protection necessary (resistance to cutting, puncture, heat), dexterity required.
Eye protection :
Goggles. -
- Skin and body protection :
Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
Impermeable clothing.
Impermeable boots.
- Selection criteria
Personal protective equipment must be defined after risk assessment for the workstation. Protective equipment must be chosen according to current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of protective equipment.
Collective emergency equipment :
Emergency equipment and first-aid box with instructions readily available. Safety shower.
Eye fountain.
Hygiene measures :
Use clean and correctly maintained personal protective equipment
Keep personal protective equipment in a clean place, away from the work area
Always take a shower after work.
Always wash your hands immediately after handling this product,
and once again before leaving the workplace.
After each use, always wash:
- personal protective equipment.
Do NOT drink, eat or smoke in the workplace.
Immediately wash any contaminated clothing with plenty of water.
Wash the floor and equipment frequently.
