Aquatic toxicology:

In the Aquatic toxicity part, 5 studies were available: one short-term toxicity to fish, Oncorhynchus mykiss (96h-LC50 = 4.1 mg/L), one short-term toxicity to daphnia, Daphnia magna (48h-EC50 = 5.9 mg/L), one long-term toxicity to daphnia, Daphnia magna (21d-EC50 = 2.4 mg/L based on immobilisation and 21d-EC50 > 1.4 mg/L based on reproduction), one study on algae, Selenastrum capricornutum (72h-ErC50 = 12 mg/L), and one study on fish (P. promelas) with a 33 d NOEC for length and body weight of 0.22 mg/L.

PNEC freshwater factor of 10 was chosen because three long-term NOECs are available (daphnia, fish and algae).

Terrestrial toxicity:

In the Terrestrial toxicity part, 2 studies were available: one toxicity study to earthworms Eisenia foetida (14d-LC50 = 390 mg/Kg soil and NOEC = 180 mg/Kg soil) and one seedling emergence toxicity study to 3 plants species: Glycine max, Lycopersicon esculentum and Avena sativa (the lowest 21d-EC50 = 150 mg/Kg soil and NOEC = 100 mg/Kg soil, based on growth).

PNEC soil factor of 50 was chosen because NOECs are available for two trophic levels (earthworms and plants).

Conclusion on classification

Classification according to the Directive 67/548/EEC: Amber Core is in Annex I and is classify as R51 -53 for the environment.
