Acute data, based on international guidelines, are available for three trophic levels: Algae, Invertebrates and Fish and are summarized in the table below.
Among all the species tested, a toxic effect was found at the three trophic levels, and the most sensitive species was fish, (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The 96h-LC50 was determined to be 4.1 mg/L. A test was performed on this species following OECD guidelines, and conducted under GLP.
Two chronic studies are available, one on Daphnia magna to assess the toxicity of Amber Core on invertebrates and one on Pimephalese promelas to assess the toxicity of Amber Core on fish.
Long term toxicity information was located for Daphnia magna (LC50 > 1.4 mg/L and LC50 = 2.4 mg/L at 21 days, based on reproduction and immobilization, respectively). The NOEC for invertebrates was considered to be 1.4 mg/L.
In the long-term toxicity to fish Pimephales promelas, a 33 d NOEC of 0.22 mg/L was obtained. Test was performed on this species following OECD guidelines, and conducted under GLP.

A study on the toxicity of Amber Core on microorganisms is also available. Amber Core had no significant inhibitory effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge at any of the concentrations employed in the test. The EC50 of the test material could not therefore be calculated but these must be greater than 100 mg/L, the highest tested level.
