Description of key information

A key study evaluating the toxicity of Amber Core (P-#620) to the earthworm (Eisenia foetida) is available. The key values for chemical safety assessment are 14d-LC50 based on mortalities at 390 mg/Kg and NOEC at 180 mg/Kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
390 mg/kg soil dw
Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
180 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

One key study according to the OECD guideline 207 with GLP statement is available to assess the acute toxicity of the test material (Amber Core P#620) to the earthworm (Eisenia foetida) in an artificial soil.

Following a preliminary range-finding test, earthworms were exposed in groups of 40 (4 replicates of 10 worms per concentration) to a range of concentrations of 100, 180, 320, 560 and 1000 mg/Kg of soil for a period of 14 days. The number of mortalities were determined after 7 and 14 days exposure. A positive control using chloroacetamide, conducted approximately every 6 months, was reported for reference purposes.

The 14 -Day LC50 for the test material to earthworms based on nominal test concentrations was 390 mg/Kg with 95% confidence limits of 370 -420 mg/Kg. The NOEC was 180 mg/Kg.
