Description of key information

A key study evaluating the toxicity of Amber Core (P-#620) to terrestrial plants (Soybean, Tomato and Oat) is available. The key values for chemical safety assessment are 21d-EC50 based on growth of Tomato at 150 mg/Kg and NOEC at 100 mg/Kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
150 mg/kg soil dw
Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
100 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

One key study according to the OECD guideline 208 with GLP statement is available to assess the effects of the test material on the emergence and growth of three plant species.

Following a preliminary range-finding test, three plant species: two dicotyledonous species (soybean and tomato) and one monocotyledonous species (oat) were exposed to concentrations of 100, 180, 320, 560 and 1000 mg/Kg. The number of seedlings emerged and any mortalities and/or morphological abnormalities were determined daily for 21 or 22 days after 50% emergence in the control for each species.

Analysis of the solvent stock solution used to prepare the test concentrations on day 0 showed a measured test concentration of 72% of nominal value and so the results are based on nominal test concentrations only.

The EC50 (emergence) and EC50 (growth based on final dry weight) for the test material based on nominal test concentrations for the three species tested were as follows:

Soybean:

The EC50 based on emergence was 440 mg/Kg (95%CL: 310-560 mg/Kg) and the NOEC was 320 mg/Kg.

The EC50 based on growth was 240 mg/Kg (95%CL: 130-370 mg/Kg) and the NOEC was 100 mg/Kg

Tomato:

The EC50 based on emergence was >1000 mg/Kg and the NOEC was 1000 mg/Kg.

The EC50 based on growth was 150 mg/Kg (95%CL: 8.8-280 mg/Kg) and the NOEC was 100 mg/Kg

Oat:

The EC50 based on emergence >1000 mg/Kg and the NOEC was 1000 mg/Kg.

The EC50 based on growth was 220 mg/Kg (95%CL: 140-320 mg/Kg) and the NOEC was 100 mg/Kg
