Description of key information

A reliable study (Klimisch score 1) shows that Behenyl Bottoms, characterized as Alcohols,C18-22, distillation residues (CAS No. 1160164-88 -4) are "readily biodegradable, but failing the 10d-window criterion" in water.

Additional information

In Annex IX column 2 of the REACH Regulation, it says that a study on the "Biodegradation in Water and Sediment" and a study on "Biodegradation in soil" does not need to be conducted if "direct and indirect exposure of sediment (soil) is unlikely" and also "if the substance is readily biodegradable". Therefore, a study on the "Biodegradation in Water and Sediment" and a study on "Biodegradation in soil" does not have to be conducted for Behenyl Bottoms, characterized as Alcohols, C18-22, distillation residues (CAS No. 1160164-88-4).
