Description of key information
No repeated dose toxicity studyies are available for IOTG. The administration of up to 0.2% 2-ethyl hexyl thioglycolate, a structural analogue, in the diet of rats for 28 days did not lead to a proliferation of hepatic peroxisomes, and did not produce any treatment-related effects. The 28 day NOAEL was 0.2% EHTG in the diet (the highest dose tested; 168 mg/kg bw for males; 173 mg/kg bw for females).

Justification for classification or non-classification
In the absence of any marked toxic effects with EHTG, IOTG should not be classified for repeated toxicity.
