Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The boiling point of isooctyl mercaptoacetate is 248 +/- 4,6°C @ 1013 hPa (decomposes around 140°C under normal pressure).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
521.7 K

Additional information

To determine the boiling point of IOTG, different studies have been monitored and results are available in the literature and in study reports. The results differ wether the study have been carried out under normal atmospheric pressure or not. Under normal pressure the product decomposes around 140°C. This behavior is observed during daily production. The loss of material increases dramatically with raising temperature.

The result used to characterize IOTG boiling point has been taken from the study carried out at various pressure far below normal pressure : 248 +/- 4.6 °C [521.1 +/- 4.6K]
