Description of key information

A relevant exposure of birds is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No information concerning effects to birds of ethyl methacrylate is available. However, in chapter R.10 of the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (ECHA 2008, p. 42) concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), it is laid down that "the chemicals of concern with respect to secondary poisoning include lipophilic organic chemicals and some metal compounds". The substance shows a low adsorptive (Koc >/= 54 - </= 270) as well as a bioaccumulative (BCF 8) potential. Hence, a relevant distribution into soil and a considerable exposure of birds is not expected. Therefore, and because of reasons of animal welfare, no study on toxicity in birds is performed.
