A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained from the distillation of crude oil or natural gasoline. It consists predominantly of saturated hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C9 through C12 and boiling in the range of approximately 140°C to 220°C (284°F to 428°F).
In a 21-day semi-static chronic reproductive
toxicity test (OECD 211; KS = 1) on Daphnia magna,
hydrodesulfurised kerosine was evaluated using water accommodated
fraction methodology. The
actual loading rates were 0 (control), 0.08, 0.19, 0.48, 1.2, and 3.0
mg/L. Under the conditions of this test, the 21-day chronic
reproductive NOEL for kerosine is 0.48 mg/L. The LOEL is 1.2 mg/L. The
EL50 based on reproduction is 0.89 mg/L (ExxonMobil, 2010).
