Description of key information

Measurement of the surface tension of an aqueous solution of PDTN at a concentration of 1.04 g/L at a temperature of 20°C showed a value of 72.9 mN/m. This is nearly the same surface tension as water has. Based on the molecular structure a study for this endpoint could, however, be waived as nohydrofobic tail is present.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
72.9
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1.04

Additional information

According to the criteria as outlined in the EEC Directive, substances showing a surface tension lower than 60 mN/ m under the conditions of this method, should be regarded as being surface active materials.
