Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The octanol/water partition coefficient of the substance was determined to be in the range 267 to 3940, log10 Pow in the range 2.43 to 3.60. Using area normalization, 12.7 % of the test item gave a log10 Pow of greater than 3.0.

Additional information

The partition coefficient of PAB was determined (Harlan Laboratories, 2013) by the HPLC method.

Three main peaks were observed in the sample chromatogram, corresponding to partition coefficients in the range 267 to 3940 and log10Pow in the range 2.43 to 3.60. The largest peak represented 77.2% of the overall peak area and corresponded to a log10Pow of 2.43; it is considered that this relates to the main component in PAB and as such it it the value which will be used for hazard and risk assessment.

Using area normalisation, 12.7% of PAB gave a log10Pow greater than 3.0.
