Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemical No. 301 E and EEC Method for the Determination of Ecotoxicity Annex to Directive 92/69/EEC Part C, Method 4 -B "Determination of ready biodegradability, Modified OECD Screening Test.
Coagulant 122 (Solid) did not pass the 10 day window criterion for ready biodegradability but achieved a hight level of biodegradation close to the pass level of 70%. It can be safely assumled than the compound is inherently biodegradable and probabely ultimately degradable under less stringent conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable but failing 10-day window

Additional information

READY BIODEGRADABILITY - Closed bottle test

Coagulant 122 (solid) attained 123% biodegradation after 28 days. The pass level of 60% was achieved within 10 days of passing the l0% level.

Coagulant 122 (solid) may be termed as readily biodegradable.

READY BIODEGRADABILITY - Modified OECD screening test

Coagulant 122 (solid) attained 67% biodegradation after 28 days. The pass level of 70% was not achieved within 10 days of passing the 10% level and therefore may not be termed as readily biodegradable. However, as Coagulant 122 (solid) achieved a high level of biodegradation close to pass level of 70%, it can be safely assumed that the compound is inherently biodegradable and probabeley ultimately degradable under less stringent conditions.

Coagulant 122 (solid) was not found to be inhibitory to activated sludge under the condition of the test.
