Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

- Under the conditions of this test Coagulant 122 (solid) was not considered to be highly flammable.
-Coagulant 122 (solid) did not react with water to produce a flammable gas.
-Coagulant 122 (solid) did not exhibit pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability (solid) (A10):

The substance melted and ignited, burning along the length of the 'rope'. The flame took 315 seconds to burn 200 mm.

Under the terms of the directive a material is not considered to be highly flammable if it takes longer than 240 seconds for combustion to propagate over 200 mm, and further testing is not required. As a conclusion, under the conditions of this test Coagulant 122 (solid)was not considered to be highly flammable.

Flammability (contact with water (A12):

There was no gas evolved on any of the tests. The test substance did not react with water to produce a flammable gas.

Pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids (A13):

The test substance did not ignite on any of the test. Coagulant 122 (solid) did not exhibit pyrophoric properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The submission substance needs not to be classified for flammability as the flash-point was determined to be 109°C and is therefore outside the range relevant for classification and labelling under the DSD (<55°C) and CLP (<60 or >75°C).

Furthermore, Coagulant 122 (solid) is concluded not to have pirophoric properties not to be flammable in contact with water to produce a flammable gas and not considered to be highly flammable due it takes longer than 240 seconds for combustion to propagate over 200 mm.
