Description of key information

OECD test 301C: "Ready Biodegradability: Modified MITI Test (I)" (1992) - 0% degradation after 28 days therefore substance not considered readily biodegradable.

Additional information

A study was performed to assess the ready biodegradability of the test material in an aerobic aqueous media. This study was conducted in accordance with the Test Method Relating to New Chemical Substances Biodegradability Test of Chemical Substances by Microorganisms and OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals 301C "Ready Biodegradability: Modified MITI Test (I)" (1992).

The test substance (100mg/L) was exposed to activated sludge (30mg/L) in a closed-system oxygen consumption measuring apparatus. The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) was measured over a 28-day period. After this period, the amount of the dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and the residual amount of the test substance were measured. The biodegradability of the test substance was evaluated from these results.

The test material attained 0% degradation after 28 days and therefore cannot be considered to be readily biodegradable under the strict terms and conditions of OECD Guideline No 301C.
