Additional information

Hydrolysis of propylene glycol methyl ether acetate as a function of pH (4, 7 and 9) was performed according to the OECD GuideLine 111 by Chemicals Evaluation and Research Institute (1998). The test report is not available, but it was validated by the Japanese authorities within the OECD SIDS activities. No hydrolysis occurred in 5 days at 50°C at pH 4 and 7. At pH 9, hydrolysis rates were determined at 60, 70 and 80°C, and it was extrapoled to 25°C using the Arrhenius relationship. The calculated rate constant was 0.00357. A half life of 8.1 days can be calculated at 25°C and at pH 9. The breakdown products were not studied. At pH 4 and 7, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate is stable.
