- Endpoint:
- flash point of flammable liquids
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2016-12-21 – 2016-12-23
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- ISO 2719 (Determination of flash point - Pensky-Martens closed cup method)
- Version / remarks:
- 2002
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The flash point of a flammable liquid is the lowest temperature at which there will be enough flammable vapor to ignite when anignition source is applied using Pensky-Martens Flash Point Apparatus.
- GLP compliance:
- not specified
- Type of method:
- closed cup
- Flash point:
- 92.3 °C
- Atm. press.:
- 977.9 hPa
- Interpretation of results:
- other: Not classified
- Conclusions:
- The mean flash point of test item is 92.3°C at 977.9hPa.
- Executive summary:
The flash point determination of test item was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 92.3°C at 977.9hPa.
Based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point >than 60 degree C hence the test item was considered to be non-flammable.

Description of key information
The flash point determination of test chemical was done by laboratory following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 92.3°C at 977.9hPa.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
- 92.3 °C
Additional information
From the various sources the test chemical was reviewed to summarize the following information.
The flash point determination of test chemical was done by laboratory following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 92.3°C at 977.9hPa.
From the available data, the flash point for test chemical was determined to be 100 degree C.And from authoritative database gestis, the flash point for test chemical was determined to be >100 degree C.
As per the available data for flash point , the flash point value determined was in range from 92.3 degree C to >100 degree C. As the data from lab has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guidelines which has the value of flash point as 92.3 °C at977.9 hPa within the range thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment. Also based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point >than 60 degree C hence the test chemical was considered to be non-flammable.
