Description of key information

Secondary poisoning is not expected

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Secondary poisoning in birds through exposure via earthworms or fish food chains is unlikely.

Phosphoric acid, potassium salt (2:3) dihydrate is highly soluble and dissociates immediately in water, with PO4-3and K+ions as main products. Both phosphates and potassium are considered essential nutrients for aquatic and terrestrial organisms, which possess internal mechanisms to regulate them. Therefore, the bioaccumulation and biomagnification of this substance through the food chain and consequent secondary poisoning is unlikely to occur and testing the effects of the substance in birds is not deemed necessary.
