Additional information

The vapour pressure of ITC 288/S has been determined according the EU method A.4 of the Commission directive 84/449/EEC and the GLP.

The vapour pressure was determined using a vapour pressure balance based on a CI electronics micro-balance with a sensitivity of 0.1µg. The temperature of the sample was controlled electronically (+/- 1°C) over the range ambient to 60°C. The mass readings and temperature were recorded directly onto a 2 channel chart recorder. The vapour pressure of the sample was measured at several temperatures to yield vapour pressure curves for subsequent extrapolation to give 25°C values. Three runs from 24 to 61°C were performed.

The sample underwent degassing (presumably loss of water). Subsequent runs gave progressively lower vapour pressure values (i.e 10E-3 Pa and 5.3E-4 Pa at 25°C for runs 2 and 3) due to possible change in composition. Results from run 1 have been quoted but the results for runs 2 and 3 are probably more representative of the substance. Based on these observations, this study is considered as reliable with restrictions.
