Description of key information

The substance can be expected to persist in the environment and to be not bioaccumulative.

Additional information

The described pigment is practically insoluble and has a negligible vapour pressure. It forms non-dispersible and highly stable aggregates in aqueous media. Hence, distribution into the compartments water and air are unlikely and in consequence abiotic degradation processes like hydrolyses and photodegradation are not relevant under environmental conditions. If the pigment will be released into the environment, the substance may be found in the compartments sediment and soil.

Based on the molecular size, cellular uptake of the pigment is unlikely. Therefore bioaccumulation in biota is not expected. Furthermore intracellular biodegradation, which is the main degradation route of bacteria, is probably low. Hence the substance is likely to persist in the environment.
