Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to fish.
No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.
LC50 (96h) > 10000 mg/L (nominal) for Leuciscus idus (DIN 38412, part L15)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no data of acute toxicity on fish for the described pigment are available, a read-across to a similar pigment (CAS 81-77 -6) is used to cover this endpoint. The acute toxicity of the pigment to fish was examined in a guideline study according to the German national standard DIN 38412, part L15 with the species Leuciscus idus. Based on the low water solubility of the test item the study was conducted as limit test with a nominal concentration of 1000 mg/L. After 96 hours of exposure no toxic effects on fish were observed up to the highest test concentration [BASF AG, 1991].
