Description of key information

The registered substance is a brittle white solid at 20°C and 1013 hPa. Based on a 1% solution, the registered substance has a surface tension of 28.8 dyn/cm at 23°C. The registered substance is not considered to be highly flammable. The registered substance is shipped as a 40% solution in water, therefore experience in production or handling shows that it does not react with water. The registered substance is also known to be stable when in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days). Based on structure, there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive or oxidising properties.

The registered substance oxidizes at approximately 325°C prior to melting. The density is 0.71 g/mL at 23°C. The substance is shipped as a 40% solution in water; therefore, the water solubility is >400,000 mg/L. Based on the water solubility, the log Kow is estimated to be <0.30. A concentrated water solution of the registered substance has a flash point of 125-135°C. Testing has determined the registered substance is not Class 4.3 under the UN TDG nor a substance which in contact with water emits flammable gases under the UN-GHS/CLP regulations.
