The available data suggest no acute or chronic, oral or dermal effects of the ferrous slags. From mutagenicity studies and despite the widespread use of the ferrous slags, no CMR potential or other health effect of these slags is identified.

In the study performed to assess the acute inhalation toxicity of the test item. The method used was designed to be compatible with that described in the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals (2009) No. 436 “Acute Inhalation Toxicity – Acute Toxic Class Method” and Method B.52. Acute Inhalation Toxicity – Acute Toxic Class Method, 2014, of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008.

In this study the acute inhalation median lethal concentration (4 hour LC50) of the test item in the Wistar strain rat was greater than 5.07 mg/L.

The test item does not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, relating to the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.

The test item does not meet the criteria for classification according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.
