Description of key information

Physical state/ appearance

The physical state/ appearance of the test item was recorded as part of a number of studies that assessed the general physico-chemical properties of the substance. The test item was identified as a grey solid with white specks. 

Melting/ freezing temperature

The melting/freezing temperature of the test item was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry using ASTM E537 -86 in accordance with OECD Guideline 102. There was no evidence of melting below 400°C (673K).

Solubility

The solubility of the test item in simulated gastic fluid monitored by ICP-MS analysis of the elements specified was determined in accordance with OECD Guideline 105 at 37.0±1°C. The results are summarised below:

Furthermore, the solubility of the test item in simulated alveolar lung fluid monitored by ICP-MS analysis of the elements specified was determined in accordance with OECD Guideline 105 at 37.0 ± 0.5 °C. The total concentration (g/L) of test item determined after 72-hours at 37.0 ± 0.5°C was 544mg/L (0.544 g/L).
