Additional information

A GLP-guideline study according to OECD 201 is available to assess the toxicity of 2-[2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy]-N-methylethanamine (TMAEE, CAS 93240 -93 -8) towards aquatic algae. As test organism the green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was used. It was exposed to TMAEE under static freshwater conditions for 72 hours. The test concentrations were analytically verified and deviated less than 20% from the nominal concentrations. The pH values were not adjusted and ranged from 7.9 to 9.6 (0 h) and from 8.1 to 8.6 (72 h) in the treatments. All validity criteria were fulfilled. An 72 -h ErC50 of 70.4 mg/L (95% CL: 37.0 - 99.2 mg/L) and an 72 -h ErC10 of 41.0 mg/L (95% CL: 32.4 to 98.5 mg/L) were determined based on nominal test concentrations (BASF SE, 2019, report no.: 60E0034/19X015).

In conclusion, TMAEE (CAS 93240-93-8) is assessed to be acutely harmful to algae.
