Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The aquatic toxicity was estimated by a QSAR, the PETROTOX computer model. This model combines Target Lipid Model used to calculate acute and long-term toxicity of non-polar narcotic chemicals with a partitioning model used to calculate the aqueous concentration of hydrocarbon components.PETROTOX calculates toxicity based on the combined total of membrane-water partition coefficients (KMW) that describe the partitioning of the hydrocarbons between the water and selected organism and the aqueous-phase concentrations of hydrocarbon block(s) that represent a hydrocarbon substance.
GLP compliance:

Remarks:
The data were calculated by a computer model."

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

The estimated freshwater invertebrate NOEL (No Observed Effect Level) value is 0.167 mg/l based on immobility and numbers of live young produced per adult by Day 21.
