Conclusion on classification

Based on the data used to assess acute toxicity for gas oils and other petroleum substance analogues, it is concluded that Renewable Diesel is acutely and chronically toxic to aquatic organisms (based on the lowest LL50 = 6.2 mg/l). Renewable Diesel should be classified as N; R51/53 under Directive 67/548/EEC and Chronic Category 2, H411 under CLP (1272/2008/EC). This is also in line with the conclusion of CONCAWE's 2010 guidance update on classification and labelling of petroleum substances, for gas oil types analogous to Renewable Diesel (straight run, cracked, hydrocracked and other gas oils).
