Description of key information

HMDTMP salt will undergo thermal decomposition without boiling.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The requirement to test the boiling point of the substance was waived because the substance decomposes without boiling. This statement is supported by a recent, reliable DSC test which demonstrates that the anhydrous form of the acid undergo thermal decomposition from approximately 200°C. Salts would be expected to undergo thermal decomposition. Similarly, in a secondary source to which no reliability could be assigned, the substance was reported to have a boiling temperature of >100°C, with decomposition temperature of >200°C following the evaporation of water.
