Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Henry's law constant (H) (in Pa m³/mol):
0.15

Additional information

The Henry's Law constant for mercaptoacetic acid estimated as 1.45X10-6 atm-m3/mole indicates that thioglycolic acid is expected to  be essentially non volatile from water surfaces and that volatilization  from moist soil surfaces may not occur.
Mercaptoacetic acid is not expected to volatilize from dry soil surfaces based upon an estimated vapour pressure of
0.12 mm Hg.
A pKa of 3.8 for mercaptoacetic acid also indicates that volatilization from water will not be an important environmental fate process as it will exist predominately in the ionic  form under environmental pHs.
