Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No information is traced about thioglycolic acid potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms. Nevertheless based on the information gathered concerning physico-chemical properties (high water solubility and low potential for octanol/water partition as indicated by Log Pow), one can expect that thioglycolic acid and its salts will not bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms.

Moreover, as the substance is readily biodegradable, the substance is not P/vP and so not PBT/vPvB. In this context and according to the REACH regulation, guidance R11 PBT assessment, no more studies are needed.
