Description of key information

Boiling range of 283-287°C at 101.325 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Calculations of the boiling point, based on the method of Banks and the method of EPA, give values of 209oC and 285.05°C, respectively.

A first test gives a decomposition temperature of 250°C but no boiling before 250°C.

A second test gives a boiling range of 283 -287°C which is coherent with the temperature calculated with the EPA method and the absence of boiling before 250°C of the first test.

It is thus assume that benzyltoluene has a boiling range of 283 -287°C.
