1998-04-24 to 1998-09-17
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Estimation of the log Pow from the saturation solubilities in n-octanol and water, as specified in Appendix 1 to EU method A.8 (Regulation (EC) No 440/2008).
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
-6.6
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH was not determined
Details on results:
The saturation concentration of Reactive Red FC 73270 in octanol was determined (by HPLC) to be 0.164 mg/L (mean value, n=2).
The saturation concentration of Reactive Red FC 73270 in water as reported by study EO 011-98 is 389,000 mg/L (i.e. 389 g/L).
Accordingly, the log Pow is calculated to be -6.6.
Conclusions:
The n-octanol/water partition coefficient of Reactive Red FC 73270 as estimated from the solubilities in water and n-octanol is log Pow = -6.6.
Executive summary:

A study was performed to determine the partition coefficient of Reactive Red FC 73270 from the saturated solubilities in n-octanol and water using the estimation method. The study was performed in accordance with EU method A.8 and in compliance with GLP.

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient of the test substance was determined to be log Pow = -6.6.
