Appearance / physical state / colour:

On the basis of physical observation the chemical Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was observed to be white colored crystalline powder in appearance.

Melting point/ Freezing point:

The Mean Melting Point range of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was found to be 282.5 - 289.5°C at 976.6 hPa.

Boiling point:

The boiling point of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) is determined to be greater than 310°C at 979.1 hPa.

Density:

The mean pour density and mean tapped density of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was found to be 0.6250 g/cm³ and 0.7143 g/cm³ at 28.1 °C and 977.9 hPa.

Particle size distribution (Granulometry):

The particle size distribution of test item Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was found to be in the range of 150 micron to 106 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The vapour pressure of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) is estimated to be 1.056E-4 Pa (7.92E-07 mm Hg) at 25°C.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data from study report,the Partition coefficient (Pow) of test chemical Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS no. 71 -91 -0) at 25°C was determined according to the OECD Guideline No. 107,”Shake Flask Method”. In this method the different volumes of a stock solution (n-octanol pre saturated with water) were shaken with different volume of water pre saturated with n-octanol. After centrifugation, both the aqueous phase and octanol phase were analysed by HPLC. The partition coefficient were calculated, from the measured concentration of test chemical in the organic and aqueous phases. The log Pow value was determined to be -1.606 ± 0.301 at 25 oC temperature. By considering this log Pow value it can be concluded that test chemical Tetrylammonium bromide is hydrophilic in nature and it is also supported by high water solubility of test chemical in water.

Water solubility:

The water solubility for the test item Tetrylammonium bromide was found to be 16928.616 mg/L at 28°C.

Surface tension:

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. The Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) is used as a laboratory chemicals and Ion exchange agents ,etc. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.

Flash point:

The mean flash point of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) is 183°C at 976.6hPa.

Autoflammability:

Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C and atmospheric pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) is not auto-flammable.

According to ECHA Chapter 7 guidance, viscosity measurement is only relevant to liquids. The Tetrylammonium bromide(CAS No. 71-91-0) is a white solid crystalline powder. Hence this study can be considered for waiver.

colorless deliquescent solid crystals.

The melting point determination of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was done following OECD Guideline 102 and according to the metal block capillary method. The test was conducted in replicates and Mean Melting Point range was found to be 282.5 - 289.5°C at 976.6 hPa.

Other supporting data from reliable handbooks and authoritative databases, also supported the selected key study and exhibited the melting point of chemical Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) as 286 degree C, 285 degree C to 290 degree C and 285 degree C to 287 degree C, in the range of selected key value.

Boiling point:

The boiling point determination of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. the test item melts above 280 °C, but no string of bubbles were observed upto 310°C, inferring boiling point to be greater than 310°C at 979.1 hPa.

Density:

The density of test item Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the method recommended in the International Pharmacopoeia, fourth Edition, 2014. The mean pour density and mean tapped density of test item was found to be 0.6250 g/cm³ and 0.7143 g/cm³ at 28.1 °C and 977.9 hPa.

Other supporting data from authoritative database and handbook, also determined the density of chemical Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) as 1.397 g/cm3 at 20 degree C.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test item Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of (Tetrylammonium bromide of 71-91- 0) in water was found to be 16928.616 mg/L at 28°C.

Other supporting data from handbook and authoritative databases, also determined the the water solubility of Tetrylammonium bromide (CAS No. 71-91-0) as 1000000 mg/L at 25°C and 2795000 mg/L at 25°C.

Hence on the basis of experimental and other obtained values the given chemical is considered to be very soluble in water.
