Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Only one short term aquatic toxicity study conducted on aquatic invertebrates is available. The study was conducted under GLP and according to recognized standard guidelines (OECD guideline No. 202, 2004, EU Method C.2, 2008, ISO International Standard 6341, 1996 and the OECD series on testing and assessment number 23, 2000.)

Although the study presented some deficiencies it is judged acceptable for hazard assessment considering that the substance is used as intermediate under strictly control conditions and therefore no exposure of aquatic environment is expected and no ecotoxicological assessment is required under REACH.

According to the results no effects on invertebrates were observed at the limit of saturation.

Conclusion on classification

According to the experimental results 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane is not acutely toxic to the aquatic organisms.

Anyway, 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane is not ready biodegradable, it has a partition coefficient Log Kow equal to 4.4 and it is poorly soluble in water, basing on these parameters it fulfills the criteria to be classified in Aquatic Chronic Category 4 according to CLP and GHS criteria.
